The Story

 

The company Iceprotein ehf. was established over a decade ago following the research project “Fish Protein as Dietary Supplements” led by Matís ohf. (formerly the Fisheries Research Institute) in collaboration with several fishing companies.

 

At the Verin science park, there are specialized research laboratories and a pilot plant where scientists and biotechnology entrepreneurs can develop products and processes. There, Iceprotein ehf. has conducted its research and developed the IceProtein® technology, as well as designed production processes with the goal of ensuring the highest quality of Protis Fish Protein products that Protis ehf. manufactures and brought to market in early 2016.

 

Dr. Hólmfríður Sveinsdóttir led this research and development work. She worked at Iceprotein ehf. from 2013 to 2019 and at Protis ehf. from the founding of the company until 2019.
